Epoxies

Epoxies are a two-component, high build, glossy coating that is abrasion and chemical resistant.  They can be applied in standard solid colors, clear, or with a colored flake systems.

Epoxies are primarily an industrial coating but have made their way into residential concrete flooring and garage flooring applications.

Advances in epoxy coloring methods have allowed for some very creative and beautiful concrete flooring coatings.  Metallic flakes, or mica, can be added into the epoxy and applied over a concrete overlay to create some amazing concrete floor finishes.

Epoxies are usually top-coated with a urethane to provide a more UV stable and abrasion resistant floor.

Recent advances in coating technology has produced an alternative to the traditional epoxy/urethane finish.  This coating, called polyaspartic, is UV stable, provides better chemical and abrasion resistance, and is more flexible than traditional epoxies.
